The Philips Hue Tap is a great addition to any smart home Hue Setup. You will need a Hue Bridge to be able to use a Hue tap with your Hue lighting system however. The Philips Hue Tap is a lot like the Philips Hue Dimmer with functionality — with a few key differences that makes it unique.
What can the Philips Hue Tap Do?
The Philips Hue Tap is extremely similar and works the same way as the Philips Hue Dimmer — albeit a little more pricey and some slight differences. The Hue tap can hold up to 4 different hue scenes to be able to change the color of the Hue setup in your house — letting you wirelessly change the color of up to 50 bulbs throughout your home or other area.
How Will This Integrate With my Hue Setup?
The Hue tap can control up to fifty lights and requires the use of a bridge, unlike the Hue Dimmer which you can use out of the box. Because it can control up to 50 lights, it is an excellent choice if you are looking for an easy way to be able to control all of the lights in your home or another area with the click of a button.
One of the coolest things is that the Philips Hue Tap works via kinetic energy. Meaning when you press the button the power from your hand is enough to be sent to the Hue bulbs to be told what to do — this way you do not need to worry about having batteries in it.
